This travel studio balanced the intensity of a hike, rituals of cleansing and eating, and meditative reflection every day for 4 weeks. To design accommodations, the final product required an understanding of the rituals and needs of the pilgrim who hiked 20km every day. We crossed through 4 climate zones and stayed in over 25 pilgrim hostels, changing the way we thought about space. I mapped the climate changes by pressing a flower into my sketchbook each day. The deep purples of the mountains varied from the crunchy yellows of the desert, contrasting with the rich reds of the steppe, and the soft blues of the temperate climate of Galicia. We finished the journey with a review of our academic work and a celebration of our physical work.
